Jbel Saghro & Camel trek 11-Day Itinerary:

DAY 1: TRANSFER TO YOUR HOTEL UPON ARRIVAL IN MARRAKECH

Arrange to meet our agent at the airport, who will then drive you to your accommodation. In the early evening, your tour guide will provide a trip briefing.

DAY 2 : MARRAKECH - TICHKA PASS - OUARZAZAT - TAGOUDILT VILLAGE 1650M

Departing early from Marrakech, your exploration will lead you to the Anti-Atlas Mountains. The day's voyage traverses the High Atlas Range, renowned for its stunning valleys and spectacular landscapes. After ascending Morocco's loftiest vehicular pass, Tichka Pass at 2260 meters, you'll encounter the barren hills and plains of Ksar Ait Ben Haddou. This remarkable UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987 is celebrated for its traditional adobe architecture and has featured in films such as “Gladiator,” “Lawrence of Arabia,” and “Alexander.” As you continue your afternoon drive, you'll trace the historic caravan trail, the Valley of 1,000 Kasbahs. Your journey concludes in the late afternoon at the village of Tagoudilt, at an elevation of 1650 meters, where a family guesthouse awaits your overnight stay.

DAY 3 : TAGOUDILT (1650M) - ALMOU NOUARG(2200 M)

Your inaugural hike in Jbel Saghro starts with an ascent along an ancient trail, winding past numerous century-old junipers and stretches of grassland. Upon reaching the Iskn’Alla plateau (2500m), the path continues uphill to a minor mountain pass, offering a breathtaking panoramic view of Mount Mgoun.

After pausing for lunch at the pass, the hike proceeds through pastures dotted with rock shelters, where you might encounter shepherds tending to their cattle. The day concludes with a descent to your tent beside the Almou N. Ouareg river, a seasonal watercourse.

DAY 4 : ALMOU NOUARG (2200M), KOUAOUCK SUMMIT (2600M), IGLI (1850M)

The Kouaouch summit, rising to 2600 meters, is the highest peak in the Anti Atlas Mountains and a landmark known to the nomads. From this vantage point, one can behold the breathtaking panorama of Jebel Saghro. The rock formations are a sight to behold, with their steep cliffs, towering rock pillars, and massive volcanic plateaus dominating the valley. The vistas and geological wonders from the summit are nothing short of spectacular.

Descending to the town of Igli, where your second camp awaits, you'll come across unexpected boulders embedded with crystals. Along the trail, you'll traverse the remarkable Tassegdilt Tamajgalt plateau, and perhaps even spot the mythical camel head. Your night will be spent adjacent to the lush fields and almond orchards.

DAY 5 : IGLI (1850M) - BAB N'ALI(1360M)

Climb a lofty ridge to take in the sweeping views of the mountains that surround you. Follow the trail leading to the Berber village of Boulouze and into a lush valley. As you wander by the river, a nomadic family might greet you and offer a cool cup of tea. At noon, enjoy a tasty picnic laid out by your chef in the valley's refreshing shade. In the afternoon, continue on foot to your third campsite, located under the iconic Babn’Ali pinnacles.

DAY 6 : BAB N'ALI(1360M)- ASSIF NIRRAZZOUN (1200M) - HANDOUR VILLAGE

Consider a detour to Jebel Saghro's Bab N Ali, or the Gate of Ali, where your guide will recount the history behind the names of these two towering rocks. From Bab n’ Ali, make your way down to the village of Ighazoun Nimlas, nestled in the slender Amguis valley beneath towering peaks.

To enter the Igue valley, peppered with hamlets encircled by date palms and almond trees, traverse the plateau graced with stunning rock formations. The South is celebrated for its crystal-clear skies, lush fields, and the distinctive red earth of its dwellings. Nearing the valley's gateway, a broad plateau reveals itself, stretching southward. Your journey culminates at Handour, a village perched atop a cliff.

DAY 7 : HANDOUR VILLAGE TO Merzouga 

After thanking the chef and mule leaders for their exceptional work that morning, you say goodbye. You then leave Handour and head towards the Merzouga Dunes. Following a short rest, you will embark on a camel ride into the magnificent Erg Chebbi dunes to spend the night at a desert camp, home to the tallest dunes in Morocco. The journey begins at our hotel in Merzouga with a 1.5-hour camel trek. Upon reaching the camp, you can watch the sunset and then continue to the camp to sleep under the stars (or in a tent, if you prefer) at a private Berber desert camp, where dinner is served.

DAY 8: Merzouga to Dadaes Gorges

You rise early to witness the sunrise atop the Merzouga dunes in the Sahara Desert. Following this, you enjoy breakfast and take a shower. Then, you journey back to the hotel on camelback. Departing for Tineghir, we pass through Erfoud and Tinghir and pause for a lunch break.

In the afternoon, the journey proceeds to the Todra Gorges. We make stops for photo opportunities and to appreciate the scenery. Upon arrival at Todra Gorges, you are greeted by its magnificent canyon views and explore the area on foot.

The day concludes with a trip to the Dades Valley. Here, dinner awaits, and we spend the night at the hotel.

DAY 9- DADES VALLEY- OUARZAZTE - MARRAKECH

After breakfast, we will travel to Marrakesh and along the way, we will visit Kasbah Ait Benhaddou and cross the High Atlas Mountains to reach Marrakesh.

DAY 10: MARRAKESH

Day 11 Marrakesh - Airport 
​

Transfer back to Marrakech Airport and departure.
